The firm's analysis also indicated that its bug bounty competitions were more effective at identifying critical vulnerabilities than traditional tier-1 audits, finding an average of 6.2 serious bugs per engagement compared to 1.5 for tier-1 audits. Additionally, the cost of identifying a critical bug averaged $6,548 in a competition, significantly less than about $66,000 in a private tier-1 audit.
