Investment firm McIntyre Partnerships cited a Financial Times report stating that QuidelOrtho (QDEL) is seeking to sell its point-of-care (POC) diagnostics division for approximately $1.5 billion.
McIntyre Partnerships noted in its Q2 2026 investor letter that this move would help the company deleverage and potentially allow its stock price to realign with peers. The point-of-care diagnostics division was part of Quidel's original business before QuidelOrtho merged with Ortho in 2022. McIntyre Partnerships believes this division has been the primary reason for the company's underperformance over the past three years, while the original Ortho business has performed stably. The company anticipates that after divesting this division, the remaining business could be valued at approximately $100 per share.
