NuScale Power, the only company with United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission approval for its SMR designs, is an early-stage developer. While it has a collaborative agreement with the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) to plan for up to 6 GW in SMR capacity, no firm agreements are in place. The company recently announced a memorandum of understanding with Curio and Framatome to evaluate an integrated nuclear fuel cycle solution for SMRs, but its technology remains a long-term prospect for power generation, not a near-term solution for current energy needs.
