Cisco stock drops in extended trading despite Q4 earnings and revenue beat, as Wall Street seeks stronger AI role
Cisco's shares fell after the company reported fiscal fourth-quarter earnings and revenue that topped analyst estimates. The networking giant posted a net income of $3.9 billion, or 97 cents per share, up 51% from a year ago, on revenue that climbed 18% to $17.346 billion (from $14.7 billion a year earlier). Cisco also issued a strong revenue forecast for the current quarter, projecting $18 billion to $18.2 billion, exceeding the average estimate of $16.8 billion. Despite these beats, the stock declined as investors had pushed shares up over 60% this quarter on optimism for a larger role in the AI boom, indicating Wall Street was looking for even stronger signals.
