LG Energy Solution opened a roughly $2 billion lithium-ion battery plant in Lansing, Michigan, on Tuesday. The facility, which will primarily make battery cells for LG Energy Solution Vertech (its energy storage systems business), opened half a year later than planned due to a slowdown in U.S. electric-vehicle demand.
