The U.S. Treasury Department announced it has redesignated Lebanon's Hezbollah as an agent of Iran and imposed sanctions on a network allegedly providing funding to the organization. This network purportedly transferred hundreds of millions of dollars using couriers on commercial flights between Lebanon, Turkey, the UAE, and Iran, and is linked to Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). This move aims to cut off Hezbollah's access to foreign currency and its ability to circumvent sanctions outside the formal financial system.
