Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani stated in a Reuters interview published on Sunday that the door for diplomacy with Israel is open, urging Israel to seize a "historic opportunity." He expects talks on a security deal, which would lead to Israel's withdrawal from Syrian territory, to resume soon. Negotiations were previously frozen at the start of what he termed the "US-Israel war on Iran." Al-Shaibani emphasized that Damascus's priority is to halt Israeli attacks and build confidence, noting that the two sides had "agreed on paper to almost everything" regarding a security deal earlier this year, but Israel sought to evade implementation.
