US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent Announces "Most Severe" Sanctions Against Iran, Iran Rejects "Economic War" Threat
U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent will hold a press conference on Monday to announce sanctions against Iran, which he called "the largest coordinated economic isolation action in world history." Scott Bessent previously stated that these sanctions would be "the toughest ever" and threatened severe financial penalties against any country that helps Iran circumvent them. A spokesperson for Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) dismissed the threat, saying that Iran has ways to "deal with the adverse effects of the enemy's war" and can "easily establish economic relations with other countries."
