US envoy Tom Barrack retracts comment that Syria's Golan is occupied, reasserting Washington's unchanged policy of recognizing Israel's sovereignty
US Ambassador to Turkiye and envoy for Syria, Tom Barrack，on Sunday walked back his comment from last week that Syria's Golan Heights is occupied against "all of the international order." He stated that the United States' policy on the Golan was set by former President Trump in 2019 and remains unchanged, recognizing Israel's claimed sovereignty over the territory.
