U.S. tech media outlet The Information reported that a recent poll shows a significant decline in public support for data centers in the United States, with the percentage of opponents sharply rising from 42% to 75% within a year. This shift in attitude is not limited to a single political party. Texas Governor Greg Abbott has halted 1,800 data center projects in the state, while Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro signed an executive order to tighten the expansion of data centers in his state. This trend poses a challenge to the AI industry, potentially slowing down the implementation of new projects and increasing tech companies' investment in political lobbying and elections.
