XPeng Motors announced today that its robotics business has completed its first round of financing, raising over $900 million, with a post-investment valuation exceeding $6.3 billion (approximately 43 billion RMB). This sets a new record for a single round of private equity financing in China's embodied AI industry. This round of financing was led by IDG Capital, with participation from Gaorong Ventures, and supported by two strategic investors, Tencent and Alibaba. In contrast to the impressive performance of its robotics business, XPeng Motors reported a net loss of 1.34 billion yuan in the second quarter, an increase of nearly 1.8 times year-on-year. At the same time, the company's revenue and delivery volume guidance for the third quarter are significantly lower than market expectations, leading to a more than 8% drop in its US stock price after the earnings report was released.
