Iraq has sent a delegation to Saudi Arabia, seeking an increase in its OPEC production quota and warning that it might follow the UAE's example and exit OPEC if its production cannot be increased. Iraq plans to boost its oil production from the current approximately 4 million barrels per day to 8-10 million barrels per day within the next six years, aiming to rival Saudi Arabia's 12 million barrels per day output. To achieve this goal, Iraq is collaborating with major Western energy companies, including Chevron, ConocoPhillips, and ExxonMobil, to acquire technical expertise and capital resources. Among them, Chevron has signed a memorandum of understanding and is expected to operate the West Qurna 2 oilfield and increase its production to 750,000-800,000 barrels per day; ConocoPhillips will enter the northern Iraqi oilfield redevelopment project by acquiring a stake in BP Energy Company of Kirkuk; and ExxonMobil has signed an agreement to develop the Majnoon oilfield.
