CME Group plans to launch monthly lease cost futures for NVIDIA H100 and B200 chips on October 5, following Kalshi's NVIDIA hashrate market reaching a notional trading volume of $4.4 million.
The plan is awaiting regulatory review. Data analytics firm Allium shows that Kalshi's GPU rental market has generated $4.4 million in notional trading volume as of July 27, which, while small compared to traditional commodity markets, is significant for a nascent market. CME likens the development of the hashrate market to the evolution of the oil market from spot trading to a global derivatives market.
