SPDR Gold Shares (GLD) lost upward momentum on Monday after hitting a key technical resistance level of $430, opening lower on Tuesday with technical indicators showing overbought conditions. Mark Newton, head of global technical strategy at Fundstrat, stated that gold and cryptocurrencies might experience consolidation in September, after which it would be a good time to buy the dip. Phil Streible, chief market strategist at Blue Line Futures, also noted that gold prices typically pause their ascent in early September but then tend to resume their rally from October through the end of the year.
