LME copper and NYMEX copper both hit record closing highs, with COMEX copper rising 1.67% to $6.7095/lb and LME copper increasing 0.53% to $14350/ton.
On Tuesday, U.S. ET, both the front-month COMEX copper futures contract and the LME three-month copper contract closed at record highs. The rise in copper prices was primarily driven by cross-regional inventory reallocation sparked by potential U.S. copper tariffs, and strengthening signals of tightening spot supply in the LME market. This was coupled with demand support from sectors such as power grids, data centers, defense, and electrification.
