Japanese Finance Minister Satsuki Katayama emphasized the importance of Australia-Japan ties amid rising geopolitical tensions, stating that Japan seeks to attract financial services firms and various investments from Australia. Speaking at the Nikkei Asia Forum Sydney, Katayama highlighted Japanese reforms over the past five years that have seen over 50 overseas financial institutions, including from Australia, enter Japan. She expressed hope that these efforts would deepen economic and financial cooperation and contribute to shared prosperity.
