LayerZero launches ATLAS as new transaction and settlement engine, ZRO token once surged over 20% on the news.
LayerZero announced on Tuesday the launch of ATLAS, an engine designed to serve as a transaction and settlement solution for exchanges, rather than competing with them. ATLAS has no standalone application or front-end interface; trading platforms can connect to the engine, eliminating the need to build their own matching, clearing, settlement, and risk systems. The ZRO token is deeply integrated with ATLAS. Platforms that stake ZRO can receive a fee rebate of 20% to 65%. Of the remaining fees after rebates, 75% will be used for ZRO buybacks and burn, and 25% will be allocated to market makers. This initiative aims to link the ZRO token to trading volume, driving its price upward. Previously, the LayerZero ecosystem experienced a loss of approximately $292 million due to an attack on the Kelp DAO bridge in April, leading to the withdrawal of protocols such as BitGo and Wyoming stablecoin, resulting in a total outflow of approximately $15 billion in funds.
