Ethereum developers propose first step to protect ETH staking from quantum attacks by rebuilding deposit contract to allow quantum-resistant keys
The draft proposal would allow validators to deposit with quantum-resistant keys and eventually stop accepting the current BLS signature format, which secures approximately 42.4 million ETH (worth about $104 billion) currently staked on Ethereum. The Ethereum Foundation is targeting roughly 2029 for core protocol changes to address quantum threats.
