NVIDIA is strengthening its support for open-source AI models in China, while warning the White House that potential restrictions could harm its business.
NVIDIA emphasized on Wednesday that its "local AI initiative" is optimizing top open-source models such as DeepSeek V4 Flash and Alibaba's Qwen 3.8. However, in its Q2 earnings report filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the company warned that potential restrictions by the White House on AI models originating from China could significantly impact its business. This follows a joint call in July by over 20 companies, including Microsoft, Meta, and Palantir, along with NVIDIA, urging policymakers to avoid "premature restrictions" on open-source models.
