A car explosion in St. Petersburg, Russia, killed a serviceman.
The Russian Investigative Committee stated that a Russian serviceman was killed and his wife injured in a car explosion in the Pushkinsky district of St. Petersburg. Local media outlet Fontanka reported that the deceased was a 53-year-old army lieutenant colonel. Al Jazeera noted that this is the latest in a series of attacks targeting military personnel and pro-war figures in Russia since its "special military operation" in Ukraine began in February 2022. No organization has yet claimed responsibility for the explosion, and Ukraine has not commented.
