Boeing has transitioned its 737 program to a production rate of 47 aircraft per month in Q2 and initiated a new 737 line in July, marking its fastest pace in years. However, on August 21, the SPEEA union, representing approximately 17,000 engineers and technical workers, overwhelmingly rejected contract offers and authorized a strike, with current contracts expiring on October 6. The strike, if it occurs, could stall engineering support for production and certification work. Leeham News reported that Boeing and SPEEA are scheduled to meet on Monday to restart negotiations.
