US Grants Refiners Highest Level of Biofuel Waivers Since 2017
The Trump administration granted oil refineries exemptions from mandates requiring them to blend renewable fuels, totaling 1.76 billion credits for the 2025 compliance year. This is significantly higher than the Environmental Protection Agency's previous projection of about 990 million exempt credits, and risks angering farmers ahead of the midterm elections.
