The U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) has launched custom versions of ChatGPT and Grok for use by 3 million military and civilian personnel.
The U.S. Department of Defense has launched customized versions of OpenAI's ChatGPT and xAI's Grok on its GenAI.mil portal, available to 3 million civilian and military personnel. These tools have been specifically tailored to meet "warfighter needs" and are offered alongside Google's Gemini, which was previously available on the portal. GenAI.mil is a secure, centralized portal designed to allow DoD employees to access commercial frontier AI models while preventing sensitive government data from being transmitted through ordinary consumer channels. The DoD stated that the portal has attracted over 1.7 million unique users.
