Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Wednesday that Russia would close the German Goethe-Institut cultural centers in Moscow, St. Petersburg, and Yekaterinburg.
The move is a response to Germany's earlier announcement to close a Russian cultural center in Berlin and a consulate in Bonn. Germany accused Russia of being responsible for a drone incident at Leipzig/Halle Airport last month, involving a drone carrying explosives that was discovered and dismantled on August 4.
