A shootout occurred in Kyiv on Wednesday morning between Ukraine's Main Directorate of Intelligence (HUR) and the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), resulting in at least three intelligence officers injured. The incident stemmed from the SBU's detention of Stepan Kaplunov, deputy commander of the Russian Volunteer Corps (RVC), which fights for Ukraine and is affiliated with the HUR. The SBU stated its action was aimed at preventing "terrorist acts" by Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB), but the HUR accused the SBU of kidnapping and initiating fire. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called the incident an "absolute disgrace," demanding accountability and an internal investigation. Subsequently, he dismissed Oleh Hramov, head of the SBU's Department for Protection of State Secrets.
