BBC Verify analysis of Ukrainian Air Force data found that Russia used its new rapid, jet-powered drones every day throughout August, marking the first time such daily attacks were recorded. These upgraded Geran drones can travel at over 300mph, making them significantly faster than older models and beyond the top speed of Kyiv's interceptors. Ukraine's military reported a surge in jet-powered drone attacks from 350 in June to 2,800 in August. In response, four Ukrainian companies have reportedly begun testing missiles capable of shooting down the new Geran models, with plans to produce thousands of units.
