Germany has outlined three requirements for UniCredit's potential takeover of Commerzbank, following the first in-person talks between Finance Minister Lars Klingbeil and UniCredit CEO Andrea Orcel. The conditions stipulate that Commerzbank must remain listed on the stock market, retain its headquarters in Frankfurt, and continue to provide financing to German mid-sized businesses both domestically and overseas. The German state holds approximately 13% of Commerzbank. UniCredit obtained just under 50% of Commerzbank shares this summer, after its previous proposal was rejected in June on financial grounds.
