The company plans to fully resume operations at the Hemerdon tungsten mine in Devon, UK, in Q1 2027, following its closure in 2018. The mine's reserves are expected to contribute 4.1% of global tungsten production, aiming to provide a non-Chinese source of tungsten for the European market. Previously, the UK's national wealth fund invested up to $95.74 million to support the project's restart. This move comes as global demand for tungsten is projected to rise, and China, which produces approximately 80% of the world's tungsten concentrate, faces export restrictions.
