California-based Planted, specializing in autonomous power deployment, announced it has raised $31.8 million to scale its operations. The funding round, led by Piva Capital and RA Capital Management Planetary Health, with participation from Breakthrough Energy Ventures, Gigascale Capital, Google, and Khosla Ventures, will expand its robotic fleet and support the launch of Sage, its next-generation robot. CEO Eric Brown stated that global solar deployment needs to accelerate fivefold to meet 2050 projections, addressing constraints in supply chains, land, interconnection, and skilled labor. Planted's system combines planning software, high-density terrain-following solar arrays, storage, and field robotics, enabling faster construction and higher energy output per acre. The company deployed over 10 MW in 2025 and is on track for 100 MW in 2026, with a project pipeline exceeding 20 GW.
