Micron Technology announced on September 15 that it has successfully completed the demonstration and validation of the world's first 512GB DDR5 RDIMM memory module, and has tested it on multiple server platforms. This product enables a single dual-socket server to exceed 12TB of DDR5 memory capacity, providing higher capacity for workloads such as large-scale AI inference, in-memory databases, and high-density virtualization. Compared to solutions using four 128GB modules, a single 512GB module reduces operating power consumption by over 60%. AMD and Intel have initiated active validation of this module, with transfer rates reaching up to 9200 MT/s. Micron expects the product to enter mass production in the second half of 2027.
