TSMC co-chief operating officer Y.J. Mii said on Tuesday that the company is particularly cautious when using AI to process sensitive R&D information, comparing AI to "a three-year-old Superman" – very capable, but unaware of the potential harm it could cause, and unable to judge right from wrong. Mii noted that TSMC currently does not believe AI can play a significant role in the R&D of next-generation semiconductor technology, and is concerned that improper use of AI by employees could lead to sensitive information leaks or data loss.
