India has summoned Pakistan’s top diplomat in New Delhi to protest a collision between the two countries’ navies in the Arabian Sea. The Indian Ministry of External Affairs stated that a Pakistani naval ship collided with an Indian warship in international waters on Tuesday, calling it “unacceptable and unprofessional conduct” that violated a 1991 bilateral agreement requiring naval vessels to maintain a three-nautical-mile distance. This marks the first direct military tension between the nuclear-armed neighbors since their four-day conflict last year.
