Israel deploys AI tools to accelerate demolitions in occupied West Bank
According to researchers and rights activists, Israel is systematically using AI tools, including ImiSight developed by Israeli weapons manufacturer Rafael, to survey Palestinian land and expedite forced displacement in the occupied West Bank. An Israel Land Authority enforcement unit, established in April 2025, specifically operates in the West Bank using advanced AI for detecting encroachments. This automation has led to an 80% increase in demolitions in Area C of the West Bank and occupied East Jerusalem between 2023 and 2025, with an average of 966 buildings razed annually. In 2025 alone, 1,288 Palestinian structures were destroyed from January to September.
