Financial data and ratings giant S&P Global has entered into an agreement to acquire OpenZeppelin, a leading smart contract security company. The acquisition aims to expand S&P Global's digital asset risk assessment capabilities into onchain technology. OpenZeppelin, founded in 2015, develops widely used open-source smart contract libraries and has completed over 900 security engagements. Following the acquisition, OpenZeppelin will continue to operate as a separate business unit under its own name, led by CEO Demian Brener. Financial terms were not disclosed.
