Ethereum's upcoming Glamsterdam upgrade has successfully passed critical tests in testnet rehearsals, increasing the block gas limit from 60 million to 200 million. Developers are preparing for public testing on October 6, aiming to significantly boost network capacity to absorb more activity and alleviate fee spikes, while avoiding excessive operating costs. The upgrade will also extend block data propagation time from 2 seconds to 9 seconds to support larger blocks. The current 200 million limit remains a test setting and is not a mainnet commitment.
