JPMorgan Chase noted in its latest report that AI hashrate demand is driving the chip industry's parallel expansion into GPUs and custom chips. The bank expects ASICs/XPUs to account for 54% of AI accelerator unit shipments by 2027, surpassing GPUs, and further rising to 55% in 2028. The report also highlighted that Broadcom's 5-year TPU supply agreement with Google, covering 2026 to 2031, involves 3nm, 2nm, and advanced packaging, and includes annually increasing revenue arrangements. Therefore, even with relatively opaque supply chain information, order certainty remains strong. JPMorgan Chase estimates the custom AI ASIC market size to be approximately $60 billion to $70 billion in 2026, with a compound annual growth rate exceeding 40% to 50% in the coming years.
