Cuba's energy ministry reported a "total disconnection" of the country's electricity grid on Friday, leading to a nationwide outage. Power was partially restored to priority areas by late evening. This marks at least the sixth partial or total blackout in Cuba this year, attributed to aging infrastructure, chronic fuel shortages, and a US blockade on oil shipments. The outage began just before 14:00 local time on Friday due to a transmission fault and poor weather. The process of gradual power restoration was ongoing on Saturday.
