James McAlevey, head of global aggregate and absolute return at BNP Paribas Asset Management, said the firm has been shorting offshore RMB interest rate swaps to hedge its bullish bets on emerging market high-yield bonds. Since April, the fund manager has built long positions in emerging market debt in Mexico, Brazil, and Colombia.
