IonQ announced on Tuesday that it has successfully demonstrated the quantum computing industry's first end-to-end real-time quantum error correction decoder. This milestone allows a single standard computer processor to find, fix, and decode errors in real time, continuously running in the background. This successful test is expected to alleviate a previous industry bottleneck where systems were easily overwhelmed when repairing sensitive system errors. Boosted by this news, IonQ's stock price rose by as much as 15% in pre-market trading on Wednesday, with its latest gain exceeding 11%. This technological breakthrough also drove up other quantum computing stocks, with Rigetti Computing, D-Wave, and Quantum Computing all rising over 4% in pre-market trading. IonQ's partners include AI giants such as Amazon Web Services and NVIDIA, as well as pharmaceutical companies like AstraZeneca. The company recently raised its full-year revenue guidance after acquiring semiconductor manufacturer SkyWater Technologies.
