Crypto hacking collective ShinyHunters claims to have stolen the personal details of 5,000 FBI agents, including family members and social security numbers, after gaining access to its database. The group shared a sample of the stolen data with several outlets yesterday, which Reuters was able to partially verify. ShinyHunters also defaced the FBI’s job page. The group stated the theft was in retaliation for the FBI’s May 2026 report detailing its activities, demanding the agency correct or remove the report within one week. An FBI spokesman indicated ShinyHunters accessed AWS GovCloud servers via a zero-day exploit in Oracle PeopleSoft.
