Experts say U.S. government bond yields soaring to multi-year highs could push up auto loan rates.
The U.S. 30-year government bond yield rose to 5.446% on Thursday, reaching a new high since 2004; the 10-year government bond yield also jumped to 5.15%, its highest level since 2006. Experts stated that as auto loan rates typically fluctuate with 5-year or 10-year government bond yields, auto loan rates are also expected to rise accordingly. This follows the Federal Reserve's decision last week to raise the target range for the federal funds rate to 3.75%-4.0%.
