Revolut reveals customer data breached twice this month after former US broker DriveWealth suffered social engineering attack; hacker publishes 'Italy Files' and demands ransom
The breaches, revealed today by both Revolut and DriveWealth, occurred on September 4 and 5, compromising names, emails, ages, genders, citizenship, postal addresses, and employment details. Earlier this month, Revolut also disclosed a separate incident where hackers used an Italian government email to access company data. Ransom demands for the email attack reportedly ranged from $760 million in BTC to $3 million in XMR. The hacker claims negotiations failed and has published the “Italy Files,” containing data of 680 crypto whales. Revolut stressed that core infrastructure, funds, and accounts were not impacted.
