The National Iranian American Council (NIAC) filed a lawsuit in a Washington, DC, court on Thursday against United States President Donald Trump. The group alleges that the ongoing military action against Iran, which has lasted over six months and allegedly killed thousands of civilians, violates constitutional war powers checks and has harmed their families, causing economic difficulties and limited access to healthcare and travel. NIAC President Jamal Abdi stated that the lawsuit asks if “one person can decide, on his own, to keep an entire nation at war.”
