Demand for the U.S. Treasury's $44 billion auction of 7-year notes on Thursday was weak, with the high yield rising to 5.085%, the highest on record for that maturity. Following the auction results, the secondary market for U.S. Treasuries continued to weaken, with the 10-year Treasury yield breaking above 5.2% for the first time since 2007; the 30-year Treasury yield rose by as much as 9 basis points to 5.49% at one point, the highest level since 2004.
