The Central Bank of Brazil issued Resolution No. 588, revising existing Anti-Money Laundering/Combating the Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT) rules to include certain virtual asset transfers involving self-custody wallets within its regulatory scope. Effective October 1, 2026, all virtual asset transfers into or out of self-custody wallets valued at $10,000 or more will be subject to reporting requirements. The new rules do not prohibit self-custody wallet transfers or impose transaction limits, and the resolution itself does not require automatic aggregation of multiple transactions below $10,000.
