Senior military officials from Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan plan to hold emergency talks to discuss ways to support Saudi Arabia under the Mecca Joint Defense Agreement, in response to the escalating conflict in Yemen and increased Houthi attacks. This plan was announced after officials from the three countries met in New York on Thursday.

Since the signing of the Mecca Joint Defense Agreement on August 7, the three nations have begun establishing mechanisms aimed at strengthening collective deterrence and expanding defense cooperation. Recently, Saudi Arabia reported a new wave of attacks from Yemen, with its air defense systems shooting down six ballistic missiles targeting Taif and Yanbu on Thursday. The Houthi rebels also claimed to have attacked "sensitive targets" in the Saudi capital Riyadh and Saudi Aramco facilities in Yanbu. French President Emmanuel Macron also stated that France would provide military assets to Saudi Arabia to help protect oil facilities in Yanbu.
