Iranian President Pezeshkian stated in an interview aired on Saturday that Iran no longer trusts negotiations with the United States due to the recurring attacks and sanctions that have followed previous talks, Al Jazeera reported. He noted that Qatar and Pakistan are relaying Tehran's messages to Washington. Iran has put forward a new proposal to end the war, demanding that the U.S. lift its naval blockade on Iranian ports, exempt Iranian oil sales from sanctions, unfreeze approximately $12 billion in Iranian assets, and adhere to regional ceasefires, including in Lebanon and Yemen. In return, Iran would reopen the Strait of Hormuz. Pezeshkian denied that Iran had blocked the Strait of Hormuz, calling it a "natural response" to the U.S. "cutting off shipping lanes," and emphasized that the crisis could be resolved through negotiation, not force. He also linked sanctions against Iran to Israel's actions in Gaza, stating that "those who deprive Iranians of medicine and raw materials are the same people who cut off food and water to Gaza."
