European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced the allocation of more than €710 million ($810 million) to assist people affected by crises, natural disasters, or conflicts globally, with a particular focus on Africa. The aid package includes €380 million ($430 million) for migration-related measures in sub-Saharan Africa, €97 million ($110 million) for humanitarian needs in the region, €7.5 million ($8.5 million) for the Ebola crisis response in the Democratic Republic of Congo, and €10 million ($11.5 million) to promote peace in the Great Lakes region. Additionally, €103 million ($117 million) will go to Palestinian territories and Lebanon, and €52 million ($59 million) to Ukraine for humanitarian assistance.
