Pure electric vehicle registrations in Europe surged by 52% year-on-year in August, marking the strongest monthly growth in recent years, driven by persistently rising gasoline prices, according to data released Thursday by the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA). Germany saw a 75% increase, while sales in France more than doubled year-on-year. As of August, more than one in three new cars sold in Europe had a charging plug. According to Bloomberg, U.S. and Israeli military actions disrupting oil tanker traffic in the Strait of Hormuz led to Germany's average gasoline price climbing to a record high of 2.31 euros per liter, becoming a core factor in the surge in EV demand.
