Yemeni government forces have launched multiple air and ground operations against Houthi positions in Taiz province over the past 24 hours, aiming to halt the Houthi advance and reclaim lost territory. The government's military media center stated on Sunday that airstrikes were conducted against Houthi positions in five locations within the province, resulting in dozens of Houthi casualties, including field commanders. Since July, the conflict has displaced approximately 130,000 people. Previously, Houthi forces made significant gains along the Red Sea coast, seizing control of the strategic port city of Mocha and expanding their control over the Bab al-Mandab Strait, a global maritime chokepoint connecting Europe and Asia. Rashad al-Alimi, Chairman of Yemen's Presidential Leadership Council, called on citizens to mobilize against the Houthis. Saudi Arabia has also sought support from allies such as Pakistan and Turkey. The Houthis previously accused Saudi Arabia of launching attacks in Yemen and vowed to block Saudi oil tankers from passing through the Bab al-Mandab Strait, which Saudi Arabia has used as an alternative route to the Strait of Hormuz. Iranian President Pezeshkian denied any Iranian role in the Yemen conflict and urged both sides to resolve their differences through dialogue.
